The Patient Participation group (PPG) was re-established in November 2014 following a 3 year suspension due to insufficient numbers. I am pleased to say that we have had five productive meetings since November and the key actions of these meetings are: Car Park, Telephone Access and online messaging have been completed or are ongoing.
Patient input is crucial to the development of services and the future of the NHS as a whole. At the meetings local issues are also discussed, for example the reform of Bedford Hospital and your views, comments and requirements are feed into the Locality Patient Participation Group (LPPG) by the five practice representatives. The LPPG is made up of the representatives of the 6 practices in the area (West Mid Beds) as well as locality team, GP and Practice Manager. The issues at this forum are then feed up to the BCCG (Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group) where funding is allocated.
Greensand Surgery PPG meet bi-monthly so have 4 or 5 PPG meetings a year; which are held at the Surgery. The meetings are currently 6.30pm – 8pm enabling a GP to attend after surgery.
We welcome patients from all ages and backgrounds to join our PPG.
If you would like to join, you can contact Ted Marchant, Chair of our group. ted@marchant-home.co.uk 01234-742488 or myself: Dawn Moore, Practice Manager
